This year I decided to give up potatoes for Lent. I will be keeping an online journal to track my progress:
10:42 AM: Trying to figure out where I can go for Lunch. Today is one of those "twice-boned" days. As it is also Ash Wednesday, I am unable to eat meat today as well. I start jotting down places where I can eat for lunch...after half an hour of brainstorming the only place I can come up with is Fresh Choice....God, if this is what Hell is like, take me now!
11:36 AM: I draw disapproving glances from my fellow co-workers as they catch me licking my Mr Potato head doll on my desk...
12:54 PM: I go to Carl's Jr about to order a Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger without the patties and bacon, when I see that they offer a Fish sandwich. But alas!, I can't get the meal since it has the fries. I ask the cashier if I can get the meal and substitute the fries with fried zucchini. I start lifting up my shirt to "sweeten the deal", as he replies..."dear god, that's not necessary, I'll just charge you 40 more cents." MAGAT: 1, LENT: 0
1:02 PM: I am completely elated as I receive my food. The fish sandwhich is basically three fish sticks in sliced bread, but I eat it with a content grin. I am so happy, that I almost do not notice that there is a stray fry within my pouch of zucchini. I pick it up and almost eat it until I realization sets in.... I will need to bring my A-game for the next 40 days... I can't lose focus!
